First, get the latest virus definition updates from here using another computer that has internet access and put a copy of the virus definition file in a USB stick or a CD.
Then, in the computer that does not have an internet connection but has the AVG antivirus software that has to be updated offline, right click on the system tray icon for AVG and click ‘Open AVG User Interface’. In the menu bar, choose Tools Update from directory to update AVG offline. Choose the folder where the virus definitions are located. AVG will use this file to update its virus database offline. If you’ve got any questions, feel free to post them in the comments.
I have yet to test this option, but it looks like it should do the trick for you.
The AVG Virus Definitions allows manual update of your AVG Antvirus Free, AVG Antivirus and AVG Internet Security in case that you do not have internet connection or in case auto update fails.
My thanks to Alan May 6 2012 for fixing my AVG update problem.
I had figured out that Zonealarm was the culprit but couldnt see any instances in the program control section of AVG installer being blocked.
This problem occurred nearly 2 weeks ago for me, which does seem to rather coincide with Zonealarms launch of their Free Antivirus and Firewall - coincidence I think not.
I wonder how many AVG users have been tempted to abandon AVG for this very reason and give Zonealarms new package a try.
I want to know where and how I can use them to update the second computer. OR copy all those updates on your PC to dropbox, and install dropbox on others copy them use the copy as update source? If I am right, you should be able to share your - C:\Program Data\avg10\update folder with your second computer.
The program can distinguish between full and differential updates; while this page offers only full update files for download.
Performing a scan of your computer with AVG Antivirus Free for harmful software may not be enough to completely protect the business data on your system.
On the other hand, manual updates using the AVG Anti-Virus Definitions package requires more time and can only be performed in full.
In order to manually add updates to your AVG Antivirus, you must save the installer to your computer, then access the Options menu and use the 'Update from folder' option to select the BIN file.
Click the first Time box's up or down arrows in the "Run at a Specific Time Interval" section to select the time you want the update to run.
