Highway 32 across Millwood Lake will close at 7 a.m. Sunday, July 16 while the sluice gate conduits at the base of the spillway are inspected.
Pendleton County Middle School had its beginnings in 1989 when the Pendleton County Board of Education voted to move 8th grade students from Brandywine, Franklin and Upper Tract Elementary Schools to Franklin High School.
This was to be the first step in a plan to create a junior high for all county 7th and 8th grade students.
De Queen Parks and Recreation activities director Chris Hale announced the park's annual Let Freedom Ring program is this Saturday at the UA Cossatot Amphitheater. and the local talent hour is scheduled to begin at 7. registration for the 3 on 3 basketball tournament will get underway and at participates in the Vandervoort parade will start to line up.
Hale said they will also announce the winners of the 1st ever Let Freedom Ring pageant that was held on June 24th. Organizers also announced runners can sign up for the annual 5K beginning at a.m. Saturday night, a Little Miss and Mister Vandervoort pageant will be held at 7 p.m. with the Page 1 band and the fireworks are set to go off at 10 p.m.
Last year, the fair board was forced to cancel the rodeo due to inclement weather and they lost a lot of money.
